The All-Party Parliamentary Group on West Papua was held in the UK Parliament on June 4, 2019. Chaired by Alex Sobel MP, the meeting heard a range of informative and thought-provoking speeches. The meeting was introduced by Benny Wenda, Chairman of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua, who relayed on-the-ground information he had received.

The following speech was given by Conservative MP, Robert Courts, to open the first-ever House of Commons debate on West Papua. I beg to move, That this House has considered human rights in West Papua. It is an honour to serve under your chairmanship, Mr Hollobone. I am delighted to have been granted this extremely.
